Teeth Cleaning in Coquitlam

Studies show that patients who get teeth cleaning in Coquitlam and adult dental checkups consistently are much more likely to have healthier gums and bones, and also keep their teeth considerably longer than those who are inconsistent with their cleanings and checkups. The reasons why these activities are good are partially due to the fact that many conditions can be diagnosed much earlier with regular checkups and dental cleaning appointments.

Early detection and dental treatment will assist you in avoiding costly and potentially serious dental and health problems down the road. Poor dental hygiene can have serious and lasting implications on your cardiovascular and general health as well.

Was on a chair within 24 hours of calling to fix 1.5 missing teeth after an accident. The staff was very friendly and did an amazing job, and I was back to a full set of teeth in less than an hour. Really skilled professionals in Coquitlam!

What to Expect During the Hygiene Visit?

During your first adult dental checkup and teeth cleaning visit at Coast Dental Coquitlam, one of our hygienists will review and assess your health and dental history to determine if you have any pre-existing medical conditions that could possibly impact your treatment. At every subsequent visit to our clinic, our hygienist will reassess your oral health and note any potential changes.

1. Each new patient patient visit at Coast Dental Coquitlam will begin by having digital x-rays taken by our expert x-ray technicians. If your are pregnant or have any underlying medical conditions that may prevent you from having x-rays taken, please let our staff know of your medical history. If you've had any x-rays taken by a previous dental clinic at any time in the previous 12 months, we'll ask you to send them to our clinic for review. Our goal with any previous x-rays of yours is to aide our doctors with your comprehensive dental exam.

2. Your dentist will perform a dental screen for oral possible oral cancers or oral lesions, along with an exam for other serious illnesses. A few of the other serious illnesses our clinic can screen for include heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

3. Your dentist will perform an evaluation of your teeth for any possible new or recurrent tooth decay. If any decay is detected, our dentist will explain the conditions and you'll be given any possible treatment options at their recommendation.
4. Your dentist will perform a periodontal exam. A periodontal exam includes the evaluation of your gums for any signs of gum disease by measuring your periodontal pockets with a dental probe.

5. Our team are trained and certified to administer local anesthetic to eliminate any discomfort or pain during your treat, though it's rarely requested because of how gentle our team operate. If a local anesthetic is requested by a client, a topical application of a common desensitizer will ensure the utmost comfort during your visit.

6. At the end of your appointment, our hygienist will review and reinforce the best practices and techniques of excellent dental hygiene, including the best practices for brushing and flossing.

Arriving with a well-cleaned mouth will make your appointment quicker and our team much happier!
